SOME PRACTICAL HINTS FOR TROUBLE FREE MACHINING.
- Check tool wear & shims for damage.
- Make sure insert seat is clean.
- Make sure of correct insert location.
- Make sure of correct torx keys are used.
- Insert screws should be properly lubricated with anti- seizing compound.
- Insert screws should be correctly tightened at recommended torque for the size. Use torque wrench if job accuracy & set up demands.
- Lubricate lever screws on lever type clamping holders with anti- seizing compound.
- Make sure contact faces are clean and undamaged on tools, holding tools & Machine spindles.
- Make sure boring bars are clamped well and that holder is undamaged at the end.
- Ensure proper butting of end mills, drills, thread mills, taps and other cylindrical tools when clamped in collet checks.
- Choose correct tool geometry, nose radius and insert grade for the application.
- Always ensure maximum set up rigidity by using lowest tool, job and tool holder overhangs. Use proper job fixtures for rigid set up.
- Do not compromise on coolant & chip evacuation system.
- Optimize cutting speed, feed rate and number of passes for optimum tool life.
- Ensure periodical inspection tests of machine tool & fixtures for accuracy’s.
