A steam trap is a kind of automatic valve that discharges condensate, air and incondensable gases generated during boiler operations, without allowing the discharge of any steam. They open, close or modulate automatically.
Thermodynamic Steam Traps: These steam traps a compact, simple and lightweight. They are easy to clean and available in a single or three port design. Thermodynamic steam traps can be used in steam transport lines, moisture separators, etc. They can operate at high pressures of up to 250 bar, and a temperature of up to 550 0C. They are available in 15, 20 and 25 mm sizes.
Inverted Bucket Steam Traps: the inverted bucket steam traps are a type of mechanical traps. They operate on the difference in density between steam and water. They are suitable for operating a fairly high pressures and they have a moderate resistance to water hammer since the steam condensate is lead to a reasonably large volume of the bucket. It can be used in steam separators, heat exchangers, etc.
Thermostatic Steam Traps: the thermostatic steam traps operate on steam temperature difference from condensate and air. They can also be used for venting air from a steam system. This type of team traps is found useful in saturated steam pipes, heating coils, air heaters, etc. Also known as temperature control traps, they can be used up to 350°C
