Shear Connector

Shear Connectors are used in composite structures in steel buildings and bridges. The composite decking means a combination of steel decking and concrete slab that have been cured and bonded together to act as one element.
Abblication

  • Shear connectors are either welded, through decking, or to the top flange of beam to achieve the composite interaction between top flange, deck profile (if applicable), shear connector, mesh and concrete.
  • Shear connectors transfer the longitudinal shear forces between beam and concrete.

Advantages

  • Shear connector have high load bearing capacity and offer heavy resistance for failure by shearing, in composite structure.
  • Very high rate of production can be achieved, during construction.
  • Ease of Operation during construction.
  • No specific skill is required for welding.
  • Flexibility in design of consturction.
  • Shear connectors can be welded through Deck Sheet, to produce concrete slab.
  • Size of columns are smaller hence for given built up area we can have larger carpet area.
  • Strong, durable, stable and seismic resistant.
