Cyclone

A cyclone separator is process of removing particulates from an air / gas stream through vortex separation. Rotational effects and Centrifugal force are used to separate solids from gas.

Working Principle
  • Air flows enter in tangential inlet from the top and ending at bottom end before exiting the cyclone in a straight stream through the centre of the cyclone and out the top.
  • Particle in the rotating steam have too much inertia to follow the tight curve of the stream and strike the wall and then particles falling down at discharge end.
  • In conical system, as the rotating flow moves towards the narrow end of the cyclone the rotational radius of the stream is reduced, then separating smaller and small particle.
