Project 60 MW Hydro Power Project being developed by NHPC (A Government of India undertaking) as an aid by Government of India to Government of Bhutan via The Ministry of External Affairs
Location Located around 450 kms. from Indian border covering treacherous mountainous & remote terrain in eastern Bhutan
Period of Completion 24 months from 1999 to 2001
Scope Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply, Installation and Commissioning of 5 submerged Radial gates of size 10.5 M (Width) x 14 M (Height) (Water head - 26M) operated with 2x165 T Hydraulic Hoists, Stoplog gate, Gantry Crane and other gates.
Challengers & Achievements The project was located in a foreign country with all topographical, geographical & logistics difficulties and average road width of 5M in Bhutan. Almost 350 foreign workers were deployed in Bhutan due to non availability of skilled local manpower in Bhutan Om Metals was awarded a bonus of 25% of the total contract value for early completion of work.
